Religious education classes will start the first week of October, with the option to attend class on the 6th or the 9th at 6 p.m. A calendar will be published soon.
We will meet in Holy Spirit Church to start. At least one parent is required to be present. If both parents can be present, that would be great. Confirmation classes will be starting on Sunday, September 14th, 1 p.m., Holy Spirit Hall. The Noon Mass at Holy Spirit is mandatory as well.

Religious Education Registration is now OPEN!
Students across the Archdiocese of Hartford will be returning to school soon.
They will also begin a year of religious education programs, with a new name.
Formerly known as religious education or CCD (short for Confraternity of Christian Doctrine), Faith Formation is the new name for parish-wide classes that nurture the spiritual lives of children and teens, help them grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ, and guide them in the importance of prayer, community, and service.
The Archdiocese is making a substantial shift in faith formation away from child-centric models of religious education, formerly referred to as CCD, toward faith formation that ministers to parents and the whole family as well.
It is no longer enough to simply catechize children. There is a strong need to evangelize and catechize the entire family.
Because children learn about faith at home through their parents' work, the Faith Formation program is comprehensive. We are looking at the whole family. Parents can disciple their children better than a parish program.
The latest edition of the Directory for Catechesis, a how-to guide for catechesis in the work of evangelization, stresses the importance of engaging entire families in the faith formation process.
Because there is a strong need to evangelize and catechize the entire family, the Archdiocese of Hartford, like many dioceses throughout the country, has shifted to family models of faith formation.
These models foster trusting relationships with parents and equip them with the necessary skills and encouragement to engage confidently in faith practices with their children.
We need to shift our attention from simply being teachers of the faith to being mentors and coaches to parents, so that parents can partner with the Church and disciple their children at home.
There are many ways to engage the whole family in the formation process, including praying as a family at home, volunteering together, and sharing in the life of the Church through fellowship with others.
We are with you. We will walk with you on this journey. Helping parents learn to be more comfortable practicing their faith at home.
The goal of Faith Formation is twofold: to empower children to grow into lifelong Catholics and to strengthen parents' relationship with the Lord. We want to see families growing in authentic faith that lasts a lifetime.
If you have not registered your child in the faith formation class, please register here.
